Chicago-Style Deep-Dish Pizza

Chicago-Style Deep-Dish Pizza

  • 1 deep-dish version of Basic Crust
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried whole oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried whole basil
  • 1 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 3 cups sliced fresh mushroom


  • Cook beef and next 7 ingredients in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, stirring to crumble beef. Drain well and place in a large bowl; stir in cheese and salt.

    Spoon beef mixture into pizza crust; spread 1 cup pizza sauce over beef mixture. Bake at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes on bottom rack of oven.
