Fried Green Tomatoes
These fried green tomato recipe is one of my all-time summer favorites. They can be served alone as an appetizer or combined with a protein like bbq shrimp for an exciting main course.

Ingredients
- 4 green tomatoes cut into 1/2 inch slices
- 3 eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup bacon drippings oil, or shortening
Breading
- 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Ground black pepper
Instructions
- Coat slices in a light dusting of all purpose flour.
- Dip floured slices into egg mix.
- Coat slices in the breading mixture.
- Heat the bacon drippings, oil, or shortening in a heavy skillet and saute the slices in it quickly until browned on both sides.
- Remove to a plate with paper towel to remove extra drippings then serve immediately.
