Anise-Pepper Liqueur
1 quart (1 L) 80 or 100 proof vodka
2/3 cups sugar (or to taste)
6 whole star anise
8 whole black peppercorns, crushed
Combine all ingredients in a large bottle or glass jar. Let sit in a cool, dark location for 5 to 7 days, or longer. Taste daily, and when flavor has reached desired level of intensity strain and bottle.
