Cuisinart Retail Price: $80
A standard coffee maker keeps your coffee hot using a hot plate beneath the pot. The pot is usually not airtight and this allows your coffee to evaporate and it becomes less drinkable with time. I am sure that most of you are used to this convection, but there is a better way. The Cuisinart® Automatic Brew & Serve is the machine that changes the rules. This coffee maker brews your coffee directly into a thermos carafe that keeps your coffee hot and drinkable for up to 24 hours. The secret is in the carafe's lid -- you don't need to open the carafe at anytime to either pour yourself a cup or to brew more coffee. The lid does make for a slower pour than usual and the brewing was a bit slow; it took 10 minutes to brew 8 cups. Note:If you use the carafe to fill the brewing unit with cold water, be certain you run some warm water into it before brewing to keep it from cracking from the hot coffee. The patented lid on this machine makes it worth putting up with the slow brewing cycle and the slow pour because it gives you hours to enjoy your fresh, hot coffee. Culinary Rating: |
