Chicago-Style Deep-Dish Pizza
Serves: 8
Ingredients:
- 3/4 pound ground round
- 3 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
- 2 cups chopped onion
- 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup chopped red bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried whole basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried whole oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed
- 2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 deep-dish version of Basic Crust
- 1 cup Pizza Sauce
Cook beef and next 7 ingredients in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned, stirring to crumble beef. Drain well and place in a large bowl; stir in cheese and salt.
Spoon beef mixture into pizza crust; spread 1 cup pizza sauce over beef mixture. Bake at 425 degrees F for 20 minutes on bottom rack of oven.
